Shelly- I picked up the book and figure, and it has been an absolute thrill. Like you, I have the individual issues, but having it all together in one collection is spectacular.
I was lucky enough to meet Joe Staton at a con a couple of years ago. I got all teary eyed and made an ass of myself, but I couldn't help it. Here in front of me was the man who helped create Helena Wayne. He drew me a sketch that remains one of my absolute favorites of all time.
Oh, that's really cool re: Joe Staton. I loved his art. I skimmed the whole book last night and remembered more than I thought I would. I fell in love with her all over again. She was a great character, very real.
Oooh, I love Joe Staton. But that sure does look like a Brian Bolland cover.
