Quick Three

Atom 22
I'll read through the current story, then decide if I'm dropping this, because so far, post-Gail Simone, this book has been flat, annoying, and unrecognizable. Are we supposed to think Ryan hasn't been Ryan? That can't be Ray at the end, but even so, whoever he is and whoever is running around calling himself the Atom, Panda is still dead. Would be nice for that to be a hoax, but... And even the Head has been boring. The fun is gone and took the sense of wonder with it.

The Trials of Shazam! 12
This ended much better than it started. Actually, the beginning was okay. The middle bogged down. But Freddie came through, the JLA and Shadowpact guest-starred without overwhelming things, and the realistic art gave the story an extra push. Nice.

All-Star Superman 10
This book continues to shine, being everything a comic should be, capturing the fun of the past with a modern sensibility. Superman dies, and Clark wrote the story! I can't wait til the next chapter, and that's saying a lot.

  1. Yeah, I think I'm going to dump the Atom as well. Gail's last issue was so hilarious, and then it all came to a screeching halt. Now it's just dull and much too wordy. And bloody.

All-Star Superman on the other hand, just shines.

  3. Stephen, when I gave up trying to figure out the whole Captain Marvel/Rock of Eternity continuity stuff, I was able to finally enjoy the story. It packed a real emotional punch by the end.
